Graduate Student Fellowship for Trans-Atlantic Summer Institute

"Transitions in Central and Eastern Europe: Culture, Society, Politics after 1989"
May 20 - June 4, 2009

All selected students will receive full fellowships. Application deadline: March 15, 2009.

The DAAD Center for German & European Studies at the University of Minnesota invites applications to the 9th Trans-Atlantic Summer Institute in European Studies (TASI). The Institute will bring together 12 German or other European, and 12 North American graduate students for an intensive two-week seminar in Krakow, Poland. Cooperating partners are the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management and the Institute of Sociology at the Jagiellonian University. The 2009 topic is "Transitions in Central and Eastern Europe: Culture, Society, Politics." The Institute will be taught by a multi-disciplinary team of faculty: Francis Harvey (Geography; University of Minnesota), Tom Wolfe (History; University of Minnesota) and Annamaria Orla-Bukowska (Sociology; Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland). The Institute is intended for advanced graduate students from all recognized institutions of higher education.

Bobby Jones Fellowship Due Monday (2/16)


Applications for the Bobby Jones Fellowship are due to the Office of International Education by Monday, February 16, 4:30 PM.


The Bobby Jones Fellowship is open to Georgia Tech students who are pursuing or will pursue graduate studies in selected areas of Physics, Electrical, and Computer Engineering. The fellowship provides one GT student the opportunity to earn a one-year non-thesis Master of Science degree at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland – a 600-year-old research university, voted Scottish University of the Year for 2008/2009, and one of the top 10 universities in the UK. The recipient will receive $35,000 to cover fees and living expenses while enrolled at the University of St. Andrews.

STARS Scholarship program continues for Summer 2009!

I am pleased to announce that the Regents STARS program will again be available for Summer 2009!

The deadline for the following two scholarships is February 13, 2009:

STARS Travel Grant: recipients perform a community service project while participating in a study abroad program. You must research and find your own project.

STARS Program Assistantship: recipients work directly for the Program Director of their study abroad program during their time overseas.
